LEARNER EXPERIENCE COACH

Timeline for recruitment: Immediate 

Duration: 1 year contract, 3 months probation

Reporting to: Learner Journey Manager

Brief description

Umuzi works with leading employers in South Africa. Together we create opportunities to skill, reskill or upskill talented young people and place them in high-value tech and creative roles. Umuzi is looking for a Learner Experience Coach to support the learner experience and ops team in the end-to-end implementation of offered programmes. Our main goal is to support the young people on our programmes to reach their full potential by improving and maximising their learning journey.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Program Delivery Support:

    • Collaborate with internal teams to manage project delivery plans, ensuring a seamless end-to-end program delivery process for learners.

    • Oversee learner onboarding, program rollout, and ongoing communication with internal stakeholders.

    • Ensure that the educational activities are well-structured, follow a defined process, and that learners have the necessary resources and support to learn effectively.

    • Track learner progress and ensure the quality of learner data.

    • Support generating of reports on learner performance and program outcomes.

    • Facilitate work readiness and work experience placements for learners.

  2. Learner Support:

    • Build supportive individual relationships with learners in the programs.

    • Coach learners on professional behaviour and communication skills.

    • Introduce and monitor interactions with Junior Tech Learners (JTL) to enhance productivity.

    • Run agile meetings, including stand-ups, sprint planning, mid-sprint check-ins, and retrospectives.

    • Assist learners in overcoming blockers in their educational journey.

  3. Promote Collaboration:

    • Create an environment where learners work together, share knowledge, and foster a sense of teamwork and agile best practices.

  1. Task Management:

    • Schedule and assign project tasks to learners, ensuring they stay on track.

    • Monitor code review and make sure no reviews go unattended for longer than 48hrs.

    • Schedule coderbyte tests and ensure all learners take them, providing coordination as needed.

  2. Communication and Liaison:

    • Communicate with the Learner Journey Manager and Partnership Team regarding learner progress, attendance, issues, and interventions.

    • Escalate issues to the relevant internal stakeholders for timely resolution.

Qualifications and Experience

This position requires 3-5 years of experience in a similar role. Project management experience and/or time working in the corporate education sector will be beneficial as will a working knowledge of skills development, B-BBEE and/or the SETA environment.
