How do I apply?

Our whole application process is done through our online portal.

The only initial requirements that you would need to meet are that you have a Grade 12 certificate (NQF4) or higher, that you are a South African citizen and that you are between the ages of 18-35.

If you are wondering how the whole application and learnership process works you can find out more by clicking here- you should be able to find all the information you need on that page.

You will need to use your ID number and email address to create your profile, a form will be sent to your email address which you will need to complete. Once completed, you can head back to your profile. (log in with your ID number and email address)

What is an online profile?

Your online profile is your very own, self-service portal, where you will be able to keep track of:

  • Whether or not your profile is up to date

  • Aptitude test results

  • Time until you can re-apply

You can always access your online profile by going to the "Apply now" page and logging in using your email address and ID number.

What is the status of my application?

If you applied for a technical career stream, you can now see the outcome of your aptitude test by entering your email address and ID number on the applications page.

If you have completed an application for UX Strategy, Copywriting or UI Design, we will need to review your submissions. This can take up to 2 months, as we batch our reviews.

Please note that you should not expect an email with the outcome of your test.

I couldn’t find the link to the aptitude test

Once you’ve created a profile, you will need to login to the portal and fill in your personal information form. You need to go back to the page www.umuzi.org/apply-now and log in with your ID number and email address. You will then see a button which says "Click here to send the form to your email address".(See below picture)

After completing the form, you need to log in again, scroll down and you will see you have an option to access the Aptitude Test, click on "Open URL" and your test will begin!

You will need to log back into your portal to see your test results, these will not be emailed to you.

Will I be invited to bootcamp?

Even if you met all the minimum requirements for the aptitude test, it is not guaranteed that you will be invited to a bootcamp. The timing of bootcamps, and the number of people that are invited, all depends on how much demand there is for your chosen career track.

Additionally, even if you have met the minimum requirements, there may be others in the pool who scored higher than you, and the highest scorers on our aptitude test will get preference.

Should I redo my aptitude tests?

No, please do not redo your aptitude tests! If your results don’t show up within 15 minutes, then please check again in a few days.

When is the next intake?

Umuzi takes in new cohorts nearly every three months. This depends on the business environment, and the impact of COVID-19 has increased the interval slightly. , although we’re holding thumbs with everyone else that it will get better.

What are the minimum requirements?

  • You need to have completed an NQF Level 4 certificate (i.e. Grade 12 or NCV Level 4).

  • You must have a clean criminal record (we do make some exceptions, but you have to be honest with us from the start)

  • You need to be a South African citizen with a valid South African ID.

Do you run any graduate programmes?

From time to time, partners will ask us specifically to recruit individuals who hold a qualification higher than NQF Level 4, for example a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree.
